Link Center Foundation ~ A Colorado 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation

The Link Center Foundation is an all-volunteer grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Colorado. It has numerous goals, including a holistic non-denominational, non-political multi-cultural teaching and conference center. Currently, however, LCF is totally dedicated to its main project which is a critically-needed Emergency Heating and Utility Assistance program for the Elders, disabled, and sick living on the Lakota [Sioux] Reservations in South Dakota. It also supports self-employment initiatives on the reservations as well as various Lakota cultural preservation projects.

ACTION ALERT!
November 9, 2008: Emergency on the Reservations!

On November 4, 2008, nearly all of South Dakota and the 9 Lakota Reservations were hit by an unexpected and massive blizzard. Within a day, on the Pine Ridge Reservation, 4 feet of snow had fallen, snow drifts were 20 feet high, winds at 60-80 mph, temperatures near 00, all roads closed, and the electricity was out over the entire reservation.

Four days later, on November 8th, South Dakota was declared to be in a State of Emergency by the Governor and rescue operations began once the first road (I-90) became open that day.

Starting with the community of Wanblee on the north edge of Pine Ridge, National Guard helicopters began to airlift out those people on oxygen, needing dialysis, or experiencing other medical crisis. They hope to eventually reach everyone in the isolated communities of Pine Ridge but it will take days. The Black Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross is also trying to assist. But today, November 9, thousands are still without power and/or heat.

The same story is true for the Rosebud Reservation, the Cheyenne River Reservation, and most of the others.

Sadly, more snow is due this week.

Please help us get emergency heating assistance to the elders, disabled, and sick on the Reservations.... It couldn’t be a worse time for the 33% increase in propane fuel costs. We had 57 elders in need already (before the storm) and more applications will now start to arrive. But, tragically, we have no funds to help any of them.

We need your help....... They need your help! Please donate! No amount is too small.

If you don’t help, no one will. Please click here to donate now!
